Law360 Names Cahill as a 2023 Banking Practice Group of the Year

Law360 has named Cahill as a 2023 Banking Practice Group of the Year, highlighting the firm’s extensive litigation work for financial institutions, as well as the firm’s precedent-setting jury trial victory on behalf of client Credit Suisse. The profile highlights Cahill’s ability to “secure major wins in the face of significant exposure,” with Cahill “even triumphing in an antitrust class action after all of its clients' co-defendants settled.”
“That work recently included leading Credit Suisse to an October 2022 jury trial victory in an antitrust class action that 15 other banks settled, collectively paying $2.3 billion,” Law360 noted.
“When you just look at the overall docket of our litigation department, I would say a substantial majority of the matters we handle are class action matters," Herbert Washer, Chair of Cahill’s Executive Committee, told Law360. "That's what we do all day, every day. And the same is true of antitrust class actions."
Law360 also noted that Credit Suisse is just one of several finance sector clients Cahill recently guided through complex litigation, including achieving the dismissal of an Anti-Terrorism Act lawsuit against Deutsche Bank, and representing UBS in litigation stemming from its takeover of Credit Suisse.
