Chris Arkin is counsel in the New York office of Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, where he focuses his practice on white-collar and regulatory defense, compliance counseling, and investigations.

He represents corporate boards, institutions, and individuals across a range of sensitive and high-stakes matters.

Chris began his legal career as a litigation associate at Cahill before joining a leading New York white-collar criminal defense firm. He later worked at a boutique consultancy based in New York and Washington, D.C., where he advised clients on complex investigations, compliance, and crisis response.

With deep experience in corporate monitorships, Chris has served on government-appointed monitor teams and represented companies placed under monitorship. His compliance work includes conducting anti-corruption and other regulatory due diligence and similar assessments, and spans a wide array of industries, including traditional and decentralized finance, automotive, defense, health care, entertainment & media, utilities, and real estate. He works with clients to develop and implement effective compliance programs tailored to operational and regulatory demands.

Chris has conducted numerous investigations involving both corporate and individual alleged misconduct, ranging from financial fraud and FCPA and other regulatory breaches to matters involving sexual and physical assault, workplace harassment, intellectual property theft, and reputational risk. He has advised public officials, athletes, celebrities, and executives facing significant legal exposure or reputational threats, often helping clients avoid indictment, punitive judgments, or public fallout.

An accomplished writer, Chris has published on enforcement, investigations, and compliance issues, including co-authoring a chapter in the Guide to Monitorships titled “When Enforcement Agencies Should Decide to Appoint a Monitor.”

Chris earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Tulane University Law School, where he served as Managing Editor of the Sports Lawyers Journal. Before law school, Chris received his undergraduate degree at Columbia University, where he captained the school’s NCAA Division I golf team and was a first team all-conference selection.
